You will need to log into the PostgreSQL database server to configure it.

  1. Create a symbolic link of the extension file entrust_psql_extension_{posgresql_version}.so to the PostgreSQL Server VM lib directory, where {postgresql_version} is the major version of PostgreSQL.

    For example:

    Copy
    ln -s </pa_installation_directory_path/lib/entrust_psql_extension_{postgresql_version}.so </path_of_postgresql_extension_directory/entrust_psql_extension_{postgresql_version}.so

    To find your PostgresSQL version, run the following:

    Copy
    postgres=# select version();
    version
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    PostgreSQL 16.8 (Ubuntu 16.8-1.pgdg24.04+1) on x86_64-pc-linux-gnu, compiled by gcc (Ubuntu 13.3.0-6ubuntu2~24.04) 13.3.0, 64-bit

    Note: The lib/extension directory may be different depending on the Linux distribution. For Ubuntu it is /usr/lib/postgresql/16/lib/.

  2. Create a symbolic link of the sql and control file to the share/extension directory of PostgreSQL Server VM. The share/extension directory may be different depending on the Linux distribution. For example, for Ubuntu it is /usr/share/postgresql/16/extension/.

    SQL example:

    Copy
    ln -s </pa_installation_directory_path/postgresql/entrust_psql_extension--1.0.sql </path_of_postgresql_extension_share_directory/entrust_psql_extension--1.0.sql

    Control file example:

    Copy
    ln -s </pa_installation_directory_path/postgresql/entrust_psql_extension.control </path_of_postgresql_extension_share_directory/entrust_psql_extension.control
  3. Log in to PostgreSQL. For example:

    Copy
    sudo -u postgres psql
  4. Run the PostgreSQL query to create the extension. For example:

    Copy
    CREATE EXTENSION entrust_psql_extension;
